On Wednesday 9 June next, study association Heeren XVII is organising a symposium with the theme 'Engineering for Future Farming'. Heeren XVII is the study association of the bachelor Agrotechnology and the master Biosystems Engineering at Wageningen University. The focus during this symposium will be on the technical innovations in the agricultural sector and the challenges during the development and implementation of these techniques. During the symposium, Mr. Erwin Ros will lead the symposium as chairman. He will also be the opening speaker. Furthermore, several speakers will share their vision in the field of Engineering for Future Farming. Mr. Ard Nieuwenhuizen will give his scientific view and discuss the most recent research in the agricultural sector. Furthermore, Mr. Benno Pichlmaier will give his insights on the future developments in the business of the agricultural sector. Mr. Bram Veldhuisen will give his view on the social aspect, towards new innovations within the agricultural sector and the adaptation of new techniques. Also Nico Huizing will speak about the role of Engineering for Future Farming within his company HuizingHarvest. The last speaker is Melchior Coolbergen. He is a young radish grower at the company Ortolanda and will tell more about (the future of) technology in the greenhouse. All this will take place on Wednesday 9 June, starting at 13:00. There is chosen for an online format, because there is still great uncertainty about Covid-19. Admission to this online symposium costs €2,- for Heeren XVII students, €3,- for other students and €10,- for non-students. Tickets can be bought on the site: www.lustrumhxvii.nl.
